The art of Impact

I'm Jennifer Slim, a colorist in Houston, and Impact Blonding is mine. Ten-plus years behind the chair taught me a good blonde is never luck. It comes down to where you place it, how you formulate it, and whether the hair survives the process. Get those right and the color actually lasts.

I started behind the chair in 2015. What hooked me was the moment a guest looks up and sees a different version of herself. My first real one was a dark, virgin head of hair I lifted into a soft, lived-in blonde — clean tone, hair still healthy, and a client who teared up in the chair. After that, blonde was the only thing I wanted to get better at. Not just lighter — softer, healthier, and still holding up months later.

In 2023 that became Impact Blonding: my method for taking naturally dark hair to a clean, pale blonde without frying it. Stylists wanted more than the steps — they wanted the reasoning. Why that placement, why that formula. So I built Intentional Impact, the hands-on class I now teach in nine cities across the U.S. and Canada.

That momentum led me to create The Impact EDU — the platform built to house everything I've learned and everything I teach. From that foundation, I launched Intentional Impact, a hands-on, in-person workshop refined around retouch-focused blonding and real-world salon application. My passion is helping other hair stylists and color specialists find their own path — not by copying my work, but by understanding the principles well enough to repeat the result, charge for it, and make it their own.

Teaching changed how I see the work. Behind the chair, I'm changing one head of hair. In a classroom, I'm changing how a stylist works for the rest of their career. I'm not trying to turn you into a copy of me. I want you to leave knowing the placement, charging what you're worth, and confident enough to build the career you actually want.
